On Your Feet All Day? Easy Ways To Relieve Foot Pain

Raul Wheeler

If you spend most of your day walking or standing, your feet can feel sore and fatigued by the end of the day. If your feet are feeling the strain of the day-to-day stress, here are some things you can do to help relieve the pain.

1. Invest in more supportive shoes.

One of the ways to relieve foot pain is to prevent it from happening in the first place. It's worth your foot health to make sure you're spending the majority of your time wearing supportive shoes. Try not to spent time in high heels, flip flops, ballet flats, or similarly unsupportive footwear. Instead, choose a shoe with a firm but flexible sole that offers good arch and ankle support. You'll find that your feet are much happier at the end of the day, even if you are tired from a day of standing.

2. Roll out your arches.

Your feet can become stressed from constant strain, and you can help them relax. Use a tennis ball over your arches to help roll out areas that have some tension. This can be quite painful at first, so take it slow. As you do it daily, you'll experience less arch pain as the ligaments and muscles stay pliable instead of tensing up.

3. Spend some time in the bathtub.

Nothing helps to get the weight of your feet than weightlessness. If you have a bathtub, fill it nice and full and spend some time soaking your feet. The warm water will help to bring blood flow to the area, and you will have the added benefit of the water supporting your feet. After the water loosens up your painful feet, you can massage them in the water, working on trouble spots. Elevate your feet in the bath to help reduce swelling.

After you have had your bath, you can help your feet further by using a cool compress on the sore places. Cold compresses help to reduce inflammation.

4. Make sure your feet have some time and space to breathe.

Many people do not wear the correct shoe size. They often wear shoes that are too small. When getting fitted for shoes, you want to make sure that they don't just fit over your feet, but that there is also enough room for your feet to swell. When you stand all day, your feet gain more fluid and they start to have increased blood flow as they get sore. Both of these things increase your foot size. When your shoe is not large enough to accommodate the swelling, your foot pain gets worse.

Learning About Podiatry Treatments

Hello, I am Francis Baker. Welcome to my website about podiatrist treatments. When I hurt my foot dancing with friends, I visited my doctor to have an x-ray performed. My doctor immediately referred me to a local podiatrist for care. Since that moment, I have dedicated my free time to learning all I can about podiatry treatments. The field fascinates me in its complexity, so I decided to share the knowledge I’ve gained with you all through this site. I hope you will enjoy visiting my site daily to learn more about podiatry treatments. Thank you for coming to read through my site.
